Learning to play the guitar

For many years now, I've been wanting to learn to play the guitar. I think it's been 13 or more years now. After 4 kids, graduate school and a full-time job, I haven't made any progress.

Two years ago, I finally acted on my plan and purchased a guitar. Two of my guitar-playing co-workers, Mark and Bruce, accompanied me to Earle Teat Music Store and helped me make a choice. I think I got a really good deal. It's a Fender brand acoustic guitar that you can hook up to an amplifier in case I'm ready to play before a big audience (doesn't hurt to dream). The color is retro - it's light blue. The price is perfect. I think the guitar was $300 but with the gig bag and the electronic tuner, I think I ended up paying $350.

Okay so that was 2 years ago and I haven't played one full song. My 8-yr. old daughter, Isabella, bought her first guitar early this year and took some lessons. I think she's going to be an expert even before I can play my first song.

So I decided I am not going to procrastinate anymore and will start practising today. I am off from work recovering from my illness anyway and there's not much to watch on t.v. Might as well make use of my time learning something new.

I really hope it works out. If not, watch out for my guitar on craigslist.
